Cà Momplìn delights his guests on all seasons thanks to its unique position in the heart of Piedmont's Roero vineyards; a real insider-tip (not only) for gourmets 40 km south-east of Turin and 10 km north of Alba. From the top of a hill you will enjoy an outstanding view over hills green with vineyard and fruit trees which ultimately meet the snow-capped Alps on the far end of the horizon. In the evening the panorama is animated by a myriad of lights from the surrounding villages and castles, a panorama to be enjoyed with a drink on the large wooden terrace, right under the stars.
Cà Momplìn is a typical XVIII° Century Piedmont's farm house, part of a small hamlet called Mompellini, offering 2 separate accommodations: Cà Momplin I of 80 sqm. over two floors, freshly restructured and artfully decorated hosts 2/4 persons. On the ground floor the living room has a fireplace and a comfy folding king size couch; it adjoins a large fully furnished kitchen. The kitchen displays its original roof of red bricks and iron railings. On the first floor a large bedroom, bathroom and balcony.
The house, furnished with antiques and Provencal fittings is particularly charming and provides home comfy with a hint of today's … such as Satellite TV and WIFI internet access. Cà Momplin II offers the same high standard and selected furniture and decoration on 250 sqm. over two floors with 2 master bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large living with kitchen and a studio with sleeping couch, spacious enough to host 8 people in total.Springtime is when you relax on an hammock on our large wooden terrace overlooking the Canale valley, under the shadow of a 150 years old mulberry tree or, when you barbecue the excellent meat purchased in one of the village's butcher shop. Our region is renown for its eno-gastronomic variety: organized visits to some of the most famous cellars, wine tasting, local and international events (the white truffle festival from in September to November in Alba, Cheese fair in Bra, Savour salon in Turin), mushroom picking, etc … and this is just a sample on how to spend your time in this area. If, on the other hand, you prefer to stay home you may want to enjoy our private selection of national and International wines combined with some homemade finger food.
You can choose from a variety of activities in the time you do not spend eating or drinking: from May to September you can access the local private tennis club* (3 km) with a semi-Olympic pool and small, very affordable family run restaurant. The tennis club offers a large green area and is equipped with all you need for your small and not so small children.
Hiking in wooded areas and vineyards with the assistance of good maps, guided horse backing trips*, tour the area on scooter* or on a Harley*, or do cycling* (you can rent a bike in the nearby village). Seaside and the Alps are a one hour drive away, and Turin, the first capital of Italy and now famous worldwide having hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics, but mostly, for its chocolate, can be easily reached by a direct bus connection from/to Canale. As your neighbors we will always be on-hand should you need anything (suggestions, indications, organizing events, tours, tasting, choosing a restaurant, etc.). Should you so wish, we can serve you breakfast and snacks on the terrace: Franco's home-made organic bread has become just one of our matchless trademarks :P ... and also personal cooking classes can be organized. On weekends, around here, there is always something going on: typical village festivals with music, dancing and, you have guessed right, wine and food. On Sunday, Canale, the main village that you can easily reach in a 15 minutes walk through the vineyards, is the place to go to see people and shop for food (some of the best local cheese and salami's), while the weekly market is held on Tuesday. Come to enjoy life as its best at Cà Momplin!
